A naturally-based therapy derived from plants, The Pellet Therapy is one of the most effective methods of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy there is. It mimics the naturally made hormones of your body; and unlike other therapies, it keeps hormones releasing at a steady level with minimal side effects.
As it is given only every 3-6 months, the Pellet therapy avoids the weekly injections or daily creams hassle of other therapies.
Advantages of the Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy
Pellets are very convenient, as they provide your body with a continuous release of hormones avoiding fluctuations. There’s no need for a daily dose or weekly injections, and once they’re inserted, the body naturally does the rest. They’re primarily used to treat hormone deficiencies and imbalances in both men and women.

The pellet is inserted through a small subcutaneous incision into the gluteal area during an office visit. This procedure involves a tiny incision using a local anesthetic and is then inserted using a trocar (a sterile surgical instrument). The incision is then closed with a sterile strip and covered with an adhesive bandage. The pellet slowly dissolves over the course of three to six months as the body draws small, physiologic dosages of the hormone to maintain a more consistent delivery. Once the pellet is dissolved, the procedure is repeated, and a new pellet is inserted.
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy is the most convenient way in providing your body with a consistent flow of hormones. Pellets mimic your body’s natural hormone secretion cycle which eliminates the risk of fluctuating high and low hormone levels. Pellets gained notoriety through their natural, painless and quick results.
Pellets are naturally composed hormones originally found in plants. They are commonly found in two types: testosterone and estradiol. They are about the size of a grain of rice and are subcutaneously inserted into the body. After inserted, the pellet metabolizes into the body to release a natural dose of hormones.
Pellets typically last anywhere from 3 to 6 months depending on your body’s metabolism, stress and/or activity level.
Benefits from pellets can be seen as soon as 2-3 days after the original implant. More concrete results are observed within 2-4 weeks.
One potential risk of pellet therapy is dealing with pellet extrusion. This can happen if a patient engages in vigorous activity too soon after the pellet is inserted (72 hours). Another risk is working with an inexperienced provider. Make sure any provider who administers pellet therapy to you has the significant experience and training both in insertion and dealing with any complications that may arise.
